Thanksgiving Care Package Ideas

With a chill in the air and the leaves changing color, it’s time to bring out the warm drinks and start planning ahead for the holiday season! Since Thanksgiving is just around the corner, it’s a great time to start putting together a care package for a service member who isn’t able to be home for the holiday. Here are a few items you can include in your Thanksgiving care package:

Homemade treats:
Bake something they love! From a batch of cookies they can share with their friends to pumpkin-themed goodies, they’ll love having something to eat that was made by someone they love. Try making mini pies or pumpkin bread to send over!Snacks:
Outside of the homemade goods, it’s great to include snack-sized packs of things like pretzels, granola bars, chips, crackers, cookies, candy, etc. These are always excellent to have on hand. Have fun with it and include a lot of fall treats like candy corn and pumpkin-shaped krispy treats!

Fall-themed decorations:
Go crazy! Decorate the box inside and out with fall flair. With wrapping paper, tissue paper, and DIY decor, make the most of the space in the package to make it feel like a party in a box. Don’t forget to decorate the box flaps and make them colorful and exciting!

Heartfelt messages:
Thanksgiving is, afterall, a time to give thanks. While they’re out serving our country, give them a few reminders of what all you appreciate about them. Make it festive by putting the messages on leaf cut-outs, hand turkeys, or on the backs of family photos.

Essentials:
Don’t forget about including everyday essentials. Any type of toiletries or personal items like toothbrushes, shampoo, body wash, lotion, aspirin, etc. are wonderful for them to have on hand. Socks, underwear, and even hand warmers are good to add in, too. If your loved one is an avid reader, include a few books. If they love music, include CDs and a CD player or an iPod filled with their favorite tunes. Customize the care package to them!
