The Holiday season leads many people to reflection, including those of us here at the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. As we reflect on the support our organization has received and the support of our servicemen and servicewomen that it allows us to provide, we are extremely moved.
Thank you for believing in our mission and purpose. This year we dedicated our third of nine Intrepid Spirit centers in Fort Campbell, KY. These state-of-the-art centers provide crucial treatment for traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and psychological health conditions in returning service members across the country.
Thank you for recognizing the psychological health of our nation’s heroes as pertinent and important. Since September 11, 2001, these conditions, including TBI, have become an epidemic among members of the American military. This is due to violent encounters with IEDs during deployments, combat-related incidents and training activities. The first two centers that we dedicated last fall, one at Fort Belvoir, VA and one at Camp Lejeune, NC, have already provided care for over 2,000 service members. This year, the Fort Campbell, KY center opened its doors and hopes to treat 1,300 to 1,500 service members annually. Two additional centers are currently under construction at Fort Bragg, NC and Fort Hood, TX. IFHF is one of the leading forces in the cause to diagnose and treat the psychological health issues of our military members, thanks to the generous support of our donors. Your generosity continues to drive us as we seek to change the lives of our nations service members and their families.
