Greetings to all the friends and supporters of the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.We are halfway through 2015 and we have had a great year so far.Our Intrepid Spirit centers at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and Fort Campbell, Kentucky, all continue to provide excellent care to military families with more than 90% of servicemembers treated at the centers able to continue their regular service in the armed forces. We thank you for supporting this critically important effort.
Our Intrepid Spirit centers under construction at Fort Bragg, North Carolina and Fort Hood, Texas, are nearing completion and will open before the end of the year, allowing care to be provided to even more of our wounded heroes suffering from traumatic brain injury and psychological health conditions.
This year we have welcomed the help of many partners and friends supporting our mission. For the second year, a team representing the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund competed in the Race Across America, a grueling cross-country bicycle race that they finished in only 6 days, 13 hours and 49 minutes, raising roughly $645K for our Fund all along the way. David Cockman ran alone across North Carolina – 600 miles in only 14 days to raise funds and to bring awareness to our efforts. On National Pretzel Day, April 26, Ben’s Soft Pretzels allowed customers at its locations around the country to donate to the Fund in honor of their favorite veteran. Many other creative and caring people joined our efforts to support our wounded heroes in uniform.
Thank you for sharing that concern for those who have served our nation. All of us at the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund wish you a great summer, and we ask you to please remember our wounded heroes, and their families, who have courageously worn America’s uniform.
