On September 24, 2011, the 23rd annual Murphy’s Masters Golf tournament was held at Pehquenakonck Golf Club in North Salem, N.Y. Blessed with great weather and a group of 66 very generous yet average golfers, we were able to raise just under $23,000.00 for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund (IFHF).
Working with the IFHF, this Charity was chosen to honor the Brave Men and Women who work to keep us all SAFE and FREE. We were assured that for each dollar raised at our event 100% of the proceeds would go directly to benefit the men and women of our U.S. Military. With this as a motivating factor, we had 66 golfers and an additional 24 social participants for the dinner, raffles and auctions. We also had 12 Hole sponsors which may seem like a strange number, however, we only have 9 golf holes at our club.
All of this good work only happens through the generosity of the many participants and donors. In a down economy and with many charity events having to struggle to stay afloat, our generous group has grown in participants and individual donors. We have lost some of our institutional sponsors but our core group always digs deep.
