The fall and winter holidays usher in a season of quality time with family and friends, festive traditions, and of course gift-giving. They always say, it’s better to give than to receive, and what’s better than giving? Giving back to those in need! For IFHF, that mean our service members fighting the invisible wounds of war: traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress. Our organization is working to provide facilities to treat these signature wounds of the current military conflicts, called Intrepid Spirit Centers, but we need your help to complete our mission. While it can be as simple as clicking “Donate” to help us heal our heroes, there are other ways to support IFHF’s mission during the holiday season of giving. Some ideas include:
Facebook
Facebook has become something of a champion of charitable causes in recent years. They’ve expanded their ability to raise money to nonprofits with an incredible feature: charitable causes pay $0 in fees to Facebook for donations. That makes it easy to simply click a button and support a causes such as IFHF’s mission. Even more amazing: Facebook allows individuals to create their own customized fundraisers, whether in celebration of a special birthday or anniversary, or simply to help spread the word about the critical need to treat the invisible wounds of war. In 2022 they even introduced the ability to set up a recurring donation.
PayPal
PayPal also offers a direct way to support IFHF’s mission. Not everyone wants to put their payment information all over the internet and that’s understandable in the digital age. For some, PayPal is a tried and true resource for payment, that they’ve relied on for years. PayPal makes it easy to make a donation to IFHF. Get started here.
Amazon Smile
Amazon Smile has become an extremely valuable avenue to support your favorite causes. It operates just like Amazon.com and requires no additional account or information- except the cause you’d like to support. From there, it’s shopping as usual. Then, after you complete each purchase, Amazon Smile contributes 0.5% of your eligible purchases to causes such as IFHF. Support on Giving Tuesday
One of the most common ways people can support the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund mission during the holiday season is by donating on Giving Tuesday. Taking place every Tuesday after Thanksgiving, Giving Tuesday is a nationwide call to give back and support charities around the world. As you consider your donations for Giving Tuesday, we urge you to consider our mission. We can’t do it without your support.
To date, our nine completed Intrepid Spirit Centers treat over 50% of TBIs in the Military Health System and have returned over 90% of those treated to either active duty or regular civilian life. But our mission is not yet complete. Three more centers remain to be funded and constructed. Every donation gets us closer to breaking ground on our next Intrepid Spirit Center. While you consider what causes to support this holiday season, please keep the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund and our heroes struggling to fight the war within in mind.
