Disabled USN Vet Launches You Matter Bike Tour for IFHF in 2014

Ken Carr, a disabled veteran of the U.S. Navy with a Traumatic Brain Injury has taken on a new project in support of the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. On April 22, 2014, accompanied by another disabled veteran and good friend, Carr will ride their bicycles 5,000 miles across the country with the goal of generating donations for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund  to complete the construction of nine NICoE Satellite Centers for veterans suffering from Traumatic Brain Injuries and Post Traumatic Stress.

The duo will be paying their own way, relying on sponsors to provide equipment needed for the trip. The trip is being called the You Matter Bike Tour to let other wounded veterans know they matter. Carr plans to set media stops at military hospitals and landmarks along the route and visit other wounded warriors at bases and various centers to meet with other intrepid heroes in person and let them know that this ride is for them.

Nearly 150,000 service members have been diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress. These invisible wounds are the signature injuries of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and in many cases are injuries that service members will carry with them for the rest of their lives. Who are these men and women? What are their personal stories of sacrifice, stress, pain and suffering? How have their families been affected? Who is caring for them? What is being done to provide care and services for these men and women who have given so much in defense of their country? Who is and will be responsible for the potentially hundreds of thousands of veterans who will come forward in the future and seek care from TBI or PTS? UFC to To Host Fight For The Troops™ Event On Fox Sports 1 Benefitting IFHF

The Ultimate Fighting Championship® (UFC®) and FOX Sports 1 have joined forces to present UFC Fight For The Troops, a special three-hour live televised event on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 9 p.m. ET, to raise funds for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund in support of the brave men and women serving our nation in the United States Armed Forces. Headlined by Army Green Beret Tim Kennedy and featuring armed forces veterans Liz Carmouche and Colton Smith, the fights will be attended by thousands of soldiers from Fort Campbell, home to the only Air Assault Division in the world, the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).

 Over the past 12 years, more than 2.5 million U.S. troops have been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, and hundreds of thousands of service members have been diagnosed with traumatic brain injuries, due to IEDs, combat related incidents and training activities. Today, those service members, and thousands of others who have yet to receive a diagnosis have new hope, as the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund (IFHF) joined with military leaders to officially dedicate the new $11 million “Intrepid Spirit” NICoE (National Intrepid Center of Excellence) Satellite Center set to provide crucial treatment of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Post Traumatic Stress (PTS) in returning service members at Camp Lejeune, NC.

USA Truck Expands Military Support Through Partnership With IFHF

It is estimated that as many as 625,000 returning servicemembers are suffering from TBI or PTS today, with over 60% failing to be properly diagnosed. They need our help now.
