September has been designated as National Poker Month by Pokergives.org, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization. Poker Gives was founded by four poker industry professionals as a way for the poker world to "give back" to worthwhile charity organizations. The goal is to raise money through poker events and donate the funds to the following four mainstream charities: Paralyzed Veterans of America, Special Olympics Nevada, Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, and the Step by Step Foundation.
